Sportsbook – What is Handicap?

A handicap bet levels the playing field between the favorite and the underdog by adding or subtracting points from the final score. This way, both teams or players have a fair chance in the betting market.

• Favorite: The team or player expected to win.
• Underdog: The team or player expected to lose.

How It Works

1. Handicap: Points are given or taken away to balance the odds.
   • For Example: If Team A is playing against Team B and Team A is the underdog, the bookmaker might set a handicap line of +1.25 for Team A.
2. Betting on the Underdog: If you bet on Team A (+1.25), you win if Team A loses by 1 goal or less, or if Team A wins or draws the game.
3. Betting on the Favorite: If you bet on Team B, you win if Team B wins by more than 1.25 goals.
